Twirling LadyBugs

Looking for a great craft today? These adorable bugs (found on craftingbyamanda) will have you twirling with delight.  Super fun to make with your kids and don’t make you hate yourself later on for crafting (Cardboard box rocket ships ringing a bell to anyone now?)

They can go pretty much anywhere. We have some hanging on a tree in our backyard and Dean has some hung from his bedroom ceiling. We added some glow in the dark paint in the hopes that they would glow outside Dean’s bedroom window. Unfortunately they didn’t glow very bright (or at all). They are so cute and so fun to watch twirling out my window! Definitely dresses up our backyard and always puts a smile on your face!

So let’s get crafting….

What you’ll need:

  • construction paper (any color)
  • something round to trace
  • scissors
  • paint
  • paint brushes
  • googlie eyes
  • glue
  • string

  • Using something round trace circles on all the different colored paper you have chosen for your bugs. You will need two circles for each bug.
  • Cut out the circles and make a slit from the bottom to the middle on each one.
  • Take two matching colored circles. Place side by side, one circle with the slit on top and the other circle with the slit on the bottom (this will ensure you the faces match up when you put them together).

  • Paint the face with a solid color across the top. Then paint your spots
  • Let them dry then flip and do the other side exactly the same
  • Glue those cute eyes on each section (there are 4 sections / 8 eyes per bug)
  • Punch a hole in the top of bug and tie some string on it
  • Using your hot glue gun, run a small strip of glue along the slits to hold it together and make it twirl!
  • Hang on your favorite tree or porch (or in your home) and enjoy!

I really hope you and your little ones enjoy these as much as we did! Thanks for reading and don’t forget to share!

Sweet Potato and Black Bean Flautas

Sweet Potato and Black Bean Flautas

I am so excited to share these awesome Flautas! They are meatless and delicious. After a summer filled with BBQ’s, camping and grilling, it’s nice to have a quick go to veggie meal that makes everyone ask for more! They will fill those bellies and satisfy your soul. Now I can’t take all the credit for these BOMBTASTIK Flautas. This recipe was adapted from the sweet potato and black bean Flautas from

So head to your closest Farmers Market (Or the Produce section in your grocery store) and make something for dinner that the whole family will eat up! YUM Enjoy!!!!

Now let’s get Cooking’

  • 12 Corn Tortillas
  • 1 Sweet Potato
  • I 15.25 Oz can of Black Beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 11 OZ can Mexi-corn
  • 3 Tbsp. salsa
  • ¼ cup dice onion
  • ½ tsp. dried Basil
  • ½ tsp. Garlic Powder
  • ½ tsp Chili Powder
  • ½ tsp. Chili Powder
  • ¼ tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 3 oz. cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • Preheat oven to 425⁰. Place a cooling rack on your baking sheet and set to the side
  • Using a fork, poke a few holes around the sweet potato and wrap in a damp paper towel. Microwave for 6-8 minutes
  • While the potato is cooking put the black beans in a bowl. Add the basil, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, cumin and salsa. Mix to combine ( I also threw in some salt, pepper and a pinch of sugar to taste)
  • Add the Mexi-corn and onion to the black beans and give it a stir.
  • Once the potato is cooked, fluff  with a fork and add the potato meat to the black beans and Mexican mix. Mix all those yummy things and give it a taste. Then set to the side
  • Take the cream cheese and the shredded cheddar and combine it with a fork. Set to the side
  • Taking 3-4 corn tortillas wrap in a damp paper towel and microwave for about 30 seconds. Once warm immediately rub one side with oil or spray with cooking spray. Place a nice inch thick line of the veggie/bean mixture in the middle and top with the cheese mixture. Roll them up and place them on the prepared baking sheet (Again be sure to pop a cooling rack on the baking sheet and place the rolled Flautas on top to bake nice and evenly) use a toothpick if they aren’t staying together.
  • Repeat step 7 for the rest of the tortillas. Spray the tops of all the rolled up Flautas with a little cooking spray.
  • Bake for 15 minutes in preheated oven. Then under the broiler for another 3-5 minutes until they are nice and golden and melty! YUMMM
  • Serve with great Mexican rice and pile it high with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream,  salsa, avocados. Anything that makes your tummy say “FIESTA”!
  • Refrigerate leftovers immediately and they stay good in the fridge for 3-5 days (if they even make it through the night!!)
Dinner DONE!

Trampoline Fun

Ahh the Trampoline! Literally the greatest thing we own in our home!

DahleBoys Jumping

I will never forget the day. I was sitting at one of my husband’s softball games, chit chatting with a fellow fan. I told her we had just moved into a house and finally had a great backyard.  We have been living in apartments since we moved to Denver and since Dean was a baby – so a backyard was HUGE! She told me that they just bought a new trampoline and planned to throw the old one away!

I couldn’t let this happen – I had wanted a trampoline my whole life (and I Know my husband’s inner child would be excited!)

We set up a weekend to make the trek to the other side of town with a 4 month old and a 3 year old.  The kids ran around and played while the adult men tore down the trampoline.  Fending off bees and anything with a stinger that must have lived in that trampoline for years and where not happy it was being destroyed! Great Defeat!

We loaded up and head home and we haven’t stopped jumping since! We will probably need to get a new jumping mat soon but it is still a prized possession in our home!

We live in Colorado so we can use our trampoline practically all year long.  We spend entire afternoons on the trampoline. It has the potential to make the “Boringest day ever” into the “Best DAY!!” Since we spend  so much time on our trampoline I thought I could fill you in on some of the awesome things we have found to do while jumping through the day (sometimes the night too!)

***Please remember that trampolines can be dangerous so always be sure to supervise your little ones while jumping as well as to remind little friend’s parents that you have a trampoline and will be jumping! It’s all Fun and Games until someone gets hurt right?!?!? ***

Dahle Boys Playing with Chalk on the Trampoline
  • Trampoline Chalk FUN
    • Chalk is so fun on the trampoline. The possibilities are endless. Make obstacle courses, have the kids jump on different shapes, Follow crazy lines, even make giant houses that they can bring their little people and play mobiles out to play with. (No need for a real doll house when you can design your own dream house – everyday!) Chalk is also just great to draw all over the trampoline with. Draw trees and flowers, Peace signs, hearts and crosses. Write your name HUGE so planes can see from the sky! Really whatever strikes your fancy!
Dylan Ready for the water!
  • Trampoline water balloons
    • Our kids are little still so the whole idea of getting smacked in the back or the side of the head – isn’t really the most fun idea. They are also boys and this will happen eventually and we don’t want them to be afraid when it does happen (because we all know boys can be mean….) we spend the entire morning filling up water balloon. Tell the boys that we will play with the filled ones after a nap. We load the trampoline up with water balloons and throw them on to jump all over. So much fun and so silly!  Be careful though if you do try this because trampolines can get super slippery when wet!
  • Popcorn
    • Popcorn is a game that many trampoline jumpers know! One person sits in the middle and holds onto their knees. The rest of the friends jump around the “popcorn kernel” until he POPS!
  • Duck Duck goose
    • This is the same as the game on the floor but running around the duck circle is a little trickier since you’re on a trampoline!
  • Lawn Concerts anyone?!?
    • Our Dean is quite the performer. We all sit in blankets on the grass and he performs his music or musical on the trampoline as if he were on a stage. A perfect lawn concert
  • Jumping and cuddling under the stars
    • We bring sleeping bags and pillows and blankets onto our trampoline. Make some popcorn grab some drinks with lids and put a laptop on a flat surface by the trampoline. Pop in a movie and spend the night watching a movie and watching the stars come out. (I don’t recommend putting the movie device on the trampoline ….. it’s just too hard not to jump!!)

There are so many things to do on a trampoline! I hope you found some great inspiration for your trampoline. I know summer is coming to a close but don’t stop the summer fun until it’s over right?! Please free to let me know your fun trampoline ideas or just let me know how these worked out for your jumping bunch!  Thanks for reading!!!Peace, Love and Prayers                The DahleMaMa

The DahleMaMa first post

Just wanted to finally write the first post from the DahleMaMa! First and foremost I wanted to say thank you to my family and friends for being so supportive. You have helped me push myself and believe that I can do this. Secondly, I wanted to fill everyone in on what is going on!

The Beginning

I started this site a little over 2 weeks ago and let me tell you – WOAH! I am learning so much. I have never considered myself a tech person.  I have a BA in public relations so I have some understanding of it – or I did before I had children and ‘mommy brain’ happened… Don’t get me wrong, I am all about Pinterest (LOVE PINTEREST) and I will post the occasional Facebook shout out but that’s about it!

So when my original computer crashed (yeah that’s right I said Crashed) as I was beginning this process, I was devastated and felt completely defeated. How could I think that I could do something like this?!?

Staying Positive!

Thank goodness my brother is a big time tech guy. When I asked him where I should get the computer looked at he said “I fix my computer myself – Call me later I’ll walk you through it”. Just like that we are on the phone and I am literally taking this computer apart. Freaking out 100% of the time.  I did it and felt like I could accomplish ANYTHING! I also found out that my Hard Drive was dead.

This was not going to slow me down though! I mean I just took apart a computer. I know I can create an awesome website with great inspiration using my favorite various social media sites.

Now without a computer things can be a little difficult. I pulled out my husband’s laptop that we let the kids use, primarily because it is missing a lot of the letter keys. Made it my computer and told Dean and Dylan that it was now grownups ONLY – this may give me a month before they get their sticky hands on it I hope

Now I was back in business! I downloaded and reinstalled all the programs. Took the time to search for pictures and things I lost in the crash. Then started rewriting and starting over.

Now and What’s To Come!

That is where we are today. Continually growing. Learning how to create a Blog/website that will have long-term success. I want it to look and act professional.  Even though I am not a website creator or even someone who uses the computer all the time (because to be honest it has been probably 4 years since I have used a computer) I am working and researching to make it as good as it can be!

I am also a full-time mom and wife. So even though I feel like I can move mountains and part the red sea with my courage and work ethic; my kids and hubby really like my attention. I like them too!  So staying focused on something other than them can make it tricky!

I will go all day just thinking about what I need to do to get this Blog up and running like a well-oiled machine. Then sit down after the house is quiet and the dishes are done and kids are in bed and can’t even see straight. My pure excitement is what has been pushing me through. That and how cute my house is starting to look with some of the projects we have been creating! I am ready to do this and dream of nothing but great things.

So with all this being said…. I am so excited to say WELCOME to The DahleMaMa Blog! A place filled with inspiration, great ideas, great people (I think), and lots of love and laughs. A place with open discussions and learning from other woman and people in similar situations. I want people to come to my site and feel like they are getting great and practical ideas for everyday of the year.  When the Holidays hit we will definitely be pumping up the volume because anyone who knows me will tell you – I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS!!!!

Thank you again for reading the first post from The DahleMaMa! I look forward to posting more and beginning this path to becoming a truly successful blogger. I especially look forward to working on new ideas and projects and sharing them with all of you! Make sure to have a very HAPPY DAY!

Peace Love and Prayers~
